Site Updates v3.4.1

January 9, 2012 |  by  |  Site Updates  |  No Comments

A few bugs squashed in this release.

  • Bug List loading failing on certain characters
  • Bug Rounding issue when applying Auto Approvals in Match Visualiser

When loading a list with certain Unicode characters the backend process was failing, unable to handle these characters. This has now been updated and the issue resolved.

In the Match Visualiser the scores displayed and the backend scores did not match due to a rounding issue in the frontend. This meant that entering some Auto Approval values resulted in unexpected behaviour. This has now been corrected.

Until the next time, happy matching.

Site Updates v3.4.0

December 2, 2011 |  by  |  Site Updates  |  No Comments

A few updates, one that will affect all accounts and a couple that affect our Enterprise accounts only.

  • New Global List Country
  • New Scrutineer User account type * Enterprise
  • New User permissions on Projects * Enterprise

When adding any list into Match2Lists it has always been the case that you had to specify the Country that best described the data being loaded so that we could best apply country specific algos and transformations as part of the matching process.

These transformations and country specific procedures are only necessary on regional and geographical data such as contact and address details as well as local Company names and identifications.

Now if your lists do not contain such data or a mixture of many countries simply select “Global” in the “List country” dropdown when uploading a list. Match2Lists will then process the list accordingly. One thing to note is, like country specific lists, you can only create projects using lists of the same “List country”.

Having been talking to some of our Enterprise customers we’ve added a new User Account Type – Scrutineer.

The Scruntineer User Account can access and only work on Projects that have been assigned to them. They do not see any Lists or other Projects you may have in your account.

With the creation of the Scruntineer it is now necessary to grant permission on Projects. A new section to the Create a Project screen has been added for this. All non-Scruntineer users within your organisation are automatically granted access to the Project which helps keep the process quick and easy.

New Project User Access Permissions

The new User Access Permissions section for Projects.

You can change access permission to existing projects by making the necessary changes to the new “User Access” section of the Project Details screen.

Tip: To make a project private so no other user sees or has access to it – simple uncheck all users. You can change these settings at anytime be going back to the Project Details screen.

That about wraps it up for this update, some great changes and advancements continue to be made – we hope you think so too, please let us know what you think.

Until next time – happy matching.

Site Updates v3.3.0

November 21, 2011 |  by  |  Site Updates  |  No Comments

As of version 3.3.0

A lot of new features have been added to the site in this update all with the intention of making the site and the tool even easier to use.

  • New Account Homepage
  • New Project Selection page
  • New Filters added to Lists and Projects pages
  • Change Updated Advanced DeDupe output customisation
  • Change “Tel/Fax” datatype has been separated to just “Telephone”…
  • New …a new datatype of “Fax” has been created

One of the first things you will notice when logging into your account is the new homepage. Here you will find out latest feeds from the Blog as well as our latest Tweets from Twitter so you can keep up to date with the latest goings on at Match2Lists. Please follow us and join in the conversations, we love hearing from our users.

Also on the homepage is where we will announce any large updates or important new features coming soon to the tool – so check it regularly as we’ve got some great things lined up…!

The new Project Selection page was added to aid in selecting the correct project type for your data matching requirements. If you were unsure as to what or why you would want to Merge 2 Lists or what actually happens in a DeDupe project, this page explains these things to you so you know exactly what project type you choose to get the results you need.

One of the features our Enterprise customers have asked for an easier way to manage the large number of lists and projects they have. So we added filters to the Lists and Project pages so its quicker and easier to find the list or project required. We released this to our Enterprise customers and they loved it so much we thought we would add it to everyone’s account. We think its a great new feature so why not tell us what you think, we would really like to get your feedback.

As always your feedback helps make changes. Any suggestions or improvements to the features we’ve added or what you think we can make to Match2Lists please let us know, we discuss and read every one. Many thanks.

Until the next time, happy matching.

Site Updates v3.2.1

June 21, 2011 |  by  |  Site Updates  |  No Comments

A couple of updates to inform you all about today.

  • Design Slight changes to the look and feel of the site
  • Change DeDupe Project processing

Recently we took a look again at our processing of DeDupe projects. Although they were working fine they were taking longer to process than we would have liked, and some of our customers had also expressed similar thoughts.

So we set about improving the whole process. It took a few days testing, tweaking, trying to get the best performance possible – but we finally did it.

DeDupe Processing is now alot quicker.

Those of you who have run DeDupe projects in the past go check it out and lets us know what you think. Those that have yet to run DeDupe projects now’s a great time to do so and enjoy the speed, simplicity and accuracy that Match2Lists has to offer.

As always your feedback helps make changes. Any suggestions or improvements you think we can make to Match2Lists please let us know, we discuss and read every one. Many thanks.

Until the next time, happy matching.

Site Updates v3.2.0

February 26, 2011 |  by  |  Site Updates  |  No Comments

As of version 3.2.0

Some big news regarding the latest update to Match2Lists.

  • New Syncing of output columns in DeDupe and Merge projects
  • Bug Fixed an issue with lists containing NULL in first column

“Syncing of output columns” – now when you output your DeDuplication and Merge 2 Lists projects you can specify which columns from either your Source or Match lists should be outputed based upon a shared logic.

For example, say you were de-duplicating a list of contact details and found some duplicates for a Mr Joe Bloggs. Most of the duplicates found where due to some misspellings and initials used rather than his name but you were able to match them on other contact and address fields.

When using the Match Visualiser you had seen that the record with the fullest name “Mr Joe Bloggs” also had the most complete Job Title, Telephone, Fax, Email and Web address details and wanted to have those fields used in the output result.

Now instead of setting up the logic for all those individual fields you can simple set the logic to “Sync with FullName” for these fields and the output fill contain the Job Title, Telephone, Fax, Email and Web address for the record “Mr Joe Bloggs” ignoring these fields for the other deduped or merged records for that match.

Its a very powerful and useful addition to the tool and we will not doubt be creating a more in-depth look at this particular feature.

Until the next time, happy matching.

Site Updates – v3.1.0

January 28, 2011 |  by  |  Site Updates  |  No Comments

As of version 3.1.0

It may still only be January but there’s no let-up on updating and improving Match2Lists. Some nice updates to mention thanks to user feedback.

  • New Semi-Colon “;” can now be used as a delimiter in uploaded lists
  • New User defined output result file delimiters
  • Change File extension of output result files reflects output delimiter used

Allowing semi-colons as a delimiter of lists being uploaded came about after monitoring several users uploading such files even though it wasn’t a option – so in the end we added it.

Many users had requested that the output results files be comma separated but some did prefer the tab delimited that we were using. After some discussion it was decided to give each user the ability to select their own preferred output delimiter – lets hope that keep s everyone happy! Just go to the Settings tab in the My Details section of your account to make the changes.

New User Defined Export File Delimiter option

And with the change of output delimiter it sort of made sense to reflect that choice in the extension used on the output results files downloaded. So if you chose CSV as your delimiter the download files will have a *.csv extension allowing quick and easy import into applications like Microsoft Excel.

If you have any comments or suggestions on any of these new updates or updates you would like to see in the future drop us a line we would love to hear from you.

Until the next time, happy matching

De-duping gets a make over

June 25, 2010 |  by  |  Site Updates  |  No Comments

As of version 3.0.0

Just one update to the site to mention – but a good one!

  • New De-Dupe Merged Export

When you export a De-Dupe matching project, 2 results files are now created for you to download.

File 1.) This is your main cleansed de-duped  list, containing records that were not matched and the merged enhanced derived record from each de-duped group of matches.

File 2.) The “Master Grouping” file. This file contains all the matched/duplicate records grouped together by a unique Master Group ID.  It allows you to see those records that were matched and grouped together.

Let me explain a bit about the merged/enhanced de-duped records in File 1.

For each group of matched records, which are in essence the duplicates you found and selected using the Match Visualiser, we create one master record for that group. This master record is derived from the most common values found within the group on a column by column basis.

So if some of the matched records didn’t have a value for some columns and other records in that same group did, then the most common value for that column would be used. This creates a more complete record to use.

In the case of an address Match2Lists will choose the most complete address from one of your de-duped records and use this address, this avoids issues with fictitious addresses being created.

Use it, try it out and let us know what you think. Leave feedback here or send us as email, we love reading feedback from our users.

Until the next time, happy matching.

P.S. The next upgrade will allow you to define your own logic to determine how to choose which value to incorporate in your master record.
